Depression Therapy in Utah
If you’re living with depression, even small daily tasks can feel heavy. You might look fine on the outside while quietly wondering why it all feels so hard. You’re not lazy, broken, or “too much.” You’re carrying more than anyone can see, and you don’t have to carry it alone.
I’m Brooke Boyd, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of Brooke Boyd Counseling, an online psychotherapy practice serving clients across Utah. I also offer life coaching, clinical supervision, and other mental health support services. My core psychotherapy focus includes depression related to anxiety, trauma, and executive functioning challenges. Together, we can make sense of what you’re going through and help you feel more like yourself again.
What depression can feel like day to day
Depression is more than sadness. It can look like going through the motions at work or school, then collapsing at home because you have nothing left. It might be scrolling your phone late into the night because being alone with your thoughts feels overwhelming. It can mean canceling plans you actually wanted to keep, or withdrawing from people you care about because it takes too much energy to talk.
You might notice:
- Feeling numb or disconnected from things you used to enjoy
- Moving through the day in a fog or on “autopilot”
- Difficulty focusing, organizing, or finishing tasks
- Changes in sleep, appetite, or energy that are hard to explain
- Feeling guilty for not being “productive enough”
- Worrying that you’re a burden to others
- Thinking, “Why can’t I just get it together?”
Depression can also be connected to anxiety, trauma, or neurodivergence. Maybe your mind races even when your body feels exhausted. Maybe you’re juggling work, school, caregiving, or complex life transitions and it all feels like too much. Whatever your mix of experiences, your feelings make sense in the context of your life.
How psychotherapy can help with depression
Psychotherapy offers a consistent, nonjudgmental space to slow down, untangle what you’re feeling, and begin to rebuild. My approach is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based care, but our conversations will feel like real, human dialogue—not clinical lectures.
Together, we can:
- Understand how depression, anxiety, trauma, and executive functioning challenges show up in your life
- Reduce self-blame by putting your symptoms in context
- Identify patterns that keep you stuck and gently experiment with new ways of responding
- Build daily routines and supports that are realistic for your actual life
- Strengthen your ability to notice and care for your emotional needs
- Reconnect with a sense of meaning, purpose, and possibility
Therapy doesn’t erase hard experiences, but it can make them feel more manageable. Over time, many people notice more energy, more clarity, and more capacity to show up for the things and people that matter to them.
Why work with Brooke Boyd
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I bring clinical training and years of experience supporting people through depression, anxiety, trauma, and executive functioning struggles. I also understand that you’re a whole person, not a diagnosis. In our online work together, we’ll tailor psychotherapy to your goals, your pace, and your lived experience.
I offer:
- Psychotherapy for Utah residents seeking support with depression alongside anxiety, trauma, or life transitions
- Life coaching (nationwide) for people who want structured support with goals, habits, and accountability, with or without therapy
Whether you’re just beginning to explore therapy or you’ve tried it before and want something that feels more collaborative and affirming, we can create a space that works for you.
What to expect in depression therapy
Reaching out for help with depression can feel vulnerable. I aim to make the process as clear and supportive as possible.
- Initial consultation: We’ll talk about what you’re experiencing, what you hope will be different, and whether psychotherapy, life coaching, or another service is the best fit.
- Early sessions: We’ll get to know your story, your strengths, and the pressures you’re facing. We’ll also talk about how depression, anxiety, or trauma have been showing up day to day.
- Ongoing work: Together, we’ll practice new tools, experiment with small changes, and check in regularly about what’s helping and what needs to shift.
- Collaboration: You’re the expert on your own life. My role is to offer perspective, support, and skills while honoring your autonomy and pacing.
You don’t have to have the perfect words or a clear plan before you start. Showing up exactly as you are is enough.
A hopeful next step
If depression has been shaping your days for a long time, it’s understandable to wonder whether anything can really change. You don’t have to believe in a complete transformation to take the next, small step. You just have to be willing to explore what’s possible with support.
If you’re in Utah and looking for online psychotherapy, or anywhere in the U.S. and interested in life coaching or other services, we can talk through your options together.
